KERJA SAMA INDONESIA DAN TURKI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN MODERN MEDIUM WEIGHT TANK HARIMAU TAHUN 2014-2024
Abstract
The defense cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey in the development of the modern medium-weight tank Harimau is part of Indonesia's strategy to enhance the independence of its defense industry. This collaboration began in 2014, involving PT Pindad (Indonesia) and FNSS Savunma Sistemleri (Turkey) as the main actors in the joint production of this medium-class tank. This research aims to analyze the dynamics of Indonesia-Turkey cooperation in the Harimau Tank development project from 2014 to 2024 and its impact on national defense independence. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive research type. Data were obtained through literature studies and interviews with relevant stakeholders, which were then analyzed using the neorealism approach, the concept of national interest, and the concept of defense independence.The research findings indicate that this cooperation has made significant contributions to supporting Indonesia's defense independence through mastery of defense technology and strengthening the capacity of the national defense industry. However, challenges remain in terms of dependence on several imported components and difficulties in optimally implementing technology transfer.
