KAPASITAS MASYARAKAT DALAM MENGHADAPI BENCANA GEMPA BUMI DI DESA JAYAPURA KECAMATAN CIGALONTANG KABUPATEN TASIKMALAYA

Abstract

This study aims to describe the community capacity in facing earthquake disasters in Jayapura Village, Cigalontang District, Tasikmalaya Regency, an earthquake-prone area that has been significantly impacted in 2009 and 2024. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants consisted of the village head, the village disaster preparedness team, the head of the youth organization, and the community. The results of the study refer to the community capacity indicators from the BNPB RBI, which consist of specific parameters (knowledge of preparedness and emergency response management) and generic parameters (vulnerability, dependence on the government, and community participation). The study shows that community capacity is still relatively low. This is evident from the lack of knowledge about preparedness, low emergency management capabilities, high dependence on government assistance, and suboptimal community participation. Therefore, the researcher provides the conclusion that increasing capacity through education, disaster training, and the active involvement of all elements of society is very necessary to reduce the risk and impact of earthquake disasters.
