Eksistensi Gerakan Bantuan Hukum Menurut Peraturan Yang Pernah Ada Dan Masih Berlaku Di Indonesia

Abstract

In Indonesia legal aid appears as a consequence of the rule of law adopted by Indonesia. Legal aid is a responsibility that must be fulfilled in a country that requires equality before the law. The birth of the Legal Aid Act in Indonesia was not a short journey, but a long process. The purpose of writing this article is because the author is interested in explaining how the process of forming the legal aid act and the author's views, especially on the current legal aid regulations, have accommodated the interests of legal aid providers and seekers. The results of the discussion stated that regulations regarding legal aid existed before independence and after independence new regulations began to emerge to regulate the implementation of legal aid with the aim of guaranteeing and protecting human rights and accommodating the interests of justice seekers. However, according to the author, in the new regulation, there are still some problems that require revision of the Legal Aid act. At the end of this article, the author suggests that the party providing legal aid should be proactive.
