Peer Review Process

This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewersand vice versa, throughout the review process.  To facilitate this, authors need to ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in a way that does not give away their identity. Every submitted article is independently reviewed by at least two peer-reviewer. The decision for publication, revision, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation.

Every manuscript submitted to the Jurnal Dialektika Hukum editorial team is processed through the following process:

Initial screening
The Editor-in-Chief or a member of the Editorial Board will first screen the manuscript for suitability for further editing. This initial screening includes: the manuscript's suitability to the journal's scope; its suitability to the journal's Focus and Scope, and Author Guidelines; and its similarity to other articles or published materials. If the manuscript is deemed "unsuitable for further editing," it will be returned to the author to be adjusted to the journal's style or the authorship will be reassigned (rejected). If the manuscript is deemed "suitable," it should proceed to the editing process.

Editing
The Editor-in-Chief or a member of the Editorial Board edits the manuscript to further align it with the journal's style. Editing includes: manuscript format (template); citations and references; and word choice. Therefore, the editor not only corrects the typeface and footnotes and bibliography, but may also make minor adjustments to the title and description of the manuscript to better align with the journal's style. All changes are communicated to the editor-in-chief or a member of the editorial board and the author(s) to obtain mutual feedback. The edited manuscript is then considered suitable for the next stage.

Substantial Review
The Editor-in-Chief or a member of the Editorial Board sends the edited manuscript to one of the reviewers competent in their field for substantive review, first removing the author(s) and their affiliations. Generally, the manuscript will be reviewed by one reviewer. However, if the manuscript covers more than one legal field, for example, regarding "Responsibility of Criminal Law in Land Burning," the manuscript is sent to two reviewers in two related fields: criminal law and environmental law. Reviewers review the substance by completing a form prepared by the editor and/or providing comments on the reviewed manuscript. The reviewers' review results include: "manuscript accepted"; "manuscript accepted with minor revisions"; "manuscript accepted with major revisions"; or "manuscript rejected," along with notes and reasons.

Revision
The Editor-in-Chief or a member of the Editorial Board communicates the results of the reviewer's review of the manuscript to the author, first removing the reviewer's identity. The author may revise the manuscript more than once, based on the Editor-in-Chief's or Editorial Board member's assessment of whether the revised manuscript adequately accommodates the reviewers' and the Editor-in-Chief's or Editorial Board member's comments.

Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on whether a revised manuscript, or if the manuscript is accepted by the reviewers, can be published. If a manuscript is "accepted for publication," the manuscript undergoes a proofreading process for writing, word choice, sentence structure, paragraphs, and references. This process of changing words, sentences, paragraphs, and references can continue until the manuscript is published, provided that these changes are communicated to the author. If a manuscript is not accepted for publication, the Editor-in-Chief returns the manuscript and its authorship rights to the author.

Published
Manuscripts accepted for publication are compiled until the required number of articles for one issue or edition is reached, which is a minimum of five articles on legal research or studies. The articles compiled in this single issue or edition are then published online and in print.
