PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT DALAM PENGEMBANGAN PARIWISATA BERBASIS EKONOMI KREATIF DI KAMPUNG WISATA PURBAYAN, KOTAGEDE, YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

This study examines community empowerment in developing creative economy-based tourism in Purbayan Tourism Village, Kotagede, Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study was to understand the process of community empowerment in developing creative economy-based tourism and the supporting and inhibiting factors encountered. This study used a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation. The applied theory is Jim Ife's (1995) community empowerment theory, which encompasses increasing community capacity, community participation, access to resources, and economic independence. The results indicate that community empowerment is implemented through training and mentoring in several areas: tourism awareness, tourism services, digital marketing, MSME development, silver crafts, batik, and culinary arts. These efforts encourage the growth of creative economy-based tourism through the management of cultural tourism packages, educational tours, silver crafts, traditional culinary arts, and arts and cultural activities that actively involve the community. Supporting factors include cultural and historical potential, community involvement, government support, and promotion through digital media. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited human resources, business capital, low interest from the younger generation, competition from external tourism sectors, and limited tourism facilities.
