Abstract

This study examines how Indonesia addresses transnational drug trafficking through regional cooperation with the ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters (ASOD) during the 2016–2020 period, using the Institutional Neoliberalism approach and a descriptive qualitative method. The findings show that Indonesia has been active through the P4GN program, strengthening law enforcement, and collaborating with the National Narcotics Board (BNN), the National Police, the Armed Forces (TNI), and Customs.  However, the effectiveness of the regional by Indonesia and ASOD is constrained by limited resources, weak of surveillance, and growing use of digitals methods by traffickers. Cooperation between Indonesia and ASOD has been relatively effective in strengthening regional coordination, but it has been less effective in reducing drug related cases in Indonesia. It requires stronger commitment among ASEAN member states to achieve a drug-free region.
