KEPENTINGAN INGGRIS MEMBENTUK JOINT DEFENCE COOPERATION DIALOGUE (JDCD) DENGAN INDONESIA DI TENGAH EKSISTENSI FIVE POWER DEFENCE ARRANGEMENTS (FPDA)
Abstract
The Joint Defence Cooperation Dialogue (JDCD) was first implemented by the UK and Indonesia in 2019. JDCD cooperation is carried out annually. However, there are several obstacles that prevent the JDCD between Indonesia and the UK from being implemented in 2023 and 2024. In implementing this JDCD bilateral cooperation, there are several national interests held by the UK and Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the various national interests held by the UK in implementing the JDCD with Indonesia and also considers the historical background of the formation of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA). This study uses a Neorealist approach, the concept of International Cooperation and the concept of National Interest. Some of the things that are in the UK's interests in establishing JDCD defense cooperation with Indonesia are wanting to develop knowledge and capabilities in the field of defense and security, strengthen its presence in the Indo-Pacific region, and build trust for Indonesia towards the UK's ally.
