TANTANGAN KERJA SAMA BILATERAL POLANDIA-AMERIKA SERIKAT DI BIDANG LNG DALAM MENJAGA KEAMANAN ENERGI POLANDIA

Abstract

This study examines the challenges faced in the bilateral cooperation between Poland and the United States in the field of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to maintain Poland’s energy security following the Russian gas embargo. The main focus of the research is on the role of the primary actors, namely the Polish company PGNiG and the American company Sempra Energy, who spearhead the establishment and implementation of strategic LNG cooperation. Through a qualitative approach involving document analysis, interviews, and case studies, this study identifies technical, logistical, regulatory obstacles, as well as political dynamics that affect the smooth distribution and supply of LNG. The findings indicate that although this cooperation strengthens Poland’s energy resilience and reduces dependence on Russian gas, various challenges such as contract uncertainties, fluctuations in global market prices, and infrastructure issues remain major obstacles to be overcome. This study provides mitigation strategy recommendations to reinforce bilateral synergy and promote the development of more efficient LNG infrastructure to ensure Poland’s energy security in the future.
