STRATEGI DIPLOMASI EKONOMI INDONESIA TERHADAP TIONGKOK DALAM MENDORONG INVESTASI DI KAWASAN INDUSTRI TERPADU BATANG PADA MASA PEMERINTAHAN JOKO WIDODO TAHUN 2019–2024
Abstract
This study explores Indonesia's economic diplomacy strategy in promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) from the People’s Republic of China into the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) during President Joko Widodo’s 2019–2024 administration. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and Kishan S. Rana’s four-stage framework-economic salesmanship, networking, image building, and regulation management-this article analyzes how Indonesia integrated state-led promotional efforts, institutional partnerships, investment narratives, and regulatory reforms to attract Chinese capital. The findings highlight concrete investment realization by four Chinese companies in KITB, supported by national strategic project status, bilateral cooperation forums (HDCM and JCBC), and harmonized licensing mechanisms such as OSS-RBA. This article demonstrates that Indonesia’s economic diplomacy has played a critical role in aligning national interests with global economic dynamics while reinforcing its economic sovereignty.
