Abstract

This study analyzes the strategies used by Migrant CARE in the case of Human Trafficking that occurred at the Iclean Service Sdn. Bhd company, Migrant CARE uses various strategies to advocate for Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malaysia. In this case, it reflects the violation of human rights against Indonesian migrant workers and shows the weakness of the laws in the country of origin and destination. As a non-governmental organization, Migrant CARE plays an important role in legal assistance, public campaigns, and pressure for policy changes. This study analyzes the way Migrant CARE advocates for Indonesian migrant workers with a case study of Human Trafficking by Iclean Service Sdn. Bhd in Malaysia in 2019-2020. This study uses a qualitative approach with case studies. Data sources are obtained from interviews, documentation, news, and official documents. This study uses the theory of Transnationalism, the Liberalism approach, and the concept of Transnational Advocacy Networks (TANs) by Keck and Sikkink. The results of the study show that Migrant CARE carries out strategic advocacy through information politics, leverage politics, and accountability politics which are effective in pressuring the Indonesian government, the Malaysian government, and related companies to be responsible and provide justice for victims.
