Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of Sister City cooperation between Bandung (Indonesia) and Braunschweig (Germany), as well as the obstacles and opportunities for Sister City cooperation between Bandung and Braunschweig. The research method used is descriptive-analytic which describes the facts regarding the cooperation between the cities of Bandung and Braunschweig in Sister City cooperation. The data collection technique used by the author is a literature review sourced from books, journals, documents, articles, and from various electronic and non-electronic media. In this study, all data is analyzed qualitatively and for the discussion of the problem, the author uses a deductive writing technique. The results of this study indicate that the renewal of the Friendship Charter into a Memorandum of Understanding as a form of affirmation of the areas of cooperation agreed to be carried out by looking at the potential of the two cities within the Sister City framework. After the Memorandum of Understanding, the Sister City cooperation between the two cities can be said to have faded or been in a vacuum so that Minutes of Meeting were made as a reaffirmation of the close friendship between the cities of Bandung and Braunschweig. The cooperation which is the first Sister City in Bandung and the oldest in Indonesia is certainly expected to be able to contribute and develop the potential of the two cities. However, there are some obstacles in the implementation of this Sister City cooperation. But on the other hand, there is an opportunity to continue the cooperation.
