Abstract

As a country with the 4th largest population in the world, the availability of labor in Indonesia should ideally not be a significant problem when compared to the number of its population. However, the facts show that the availability of jobs in Indonesia is not enough to accommodate the abundance of the workforce. This situation forced many Indonesians to decide to look for work in neighboring countries such as Malaysia to become migrant workers. This is supported by the large influence of massive globalization and the ease of access to information outside the country. Policies that lead to liberal direction also support the ease of traffic for the flow of goods, services and people. This situation is taken advantage of by irresponsible parties to carry out their actions in the Crime of Trafficking in Persons or commonly called human trafficking, especially against female migrant workers. The role of the state as the main policy maker in handling human trafficking has not fully impacted, so the role of other parties such as Migrant Care as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) is very necessary to be a counterweight to state actors which will be discussed in detail in the article below.
