Abstract

This study analyses Russia's foreign policy towards NATO in the context of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, reflecting complex geopolitical dynamics and increasing tensions in Europe. Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, relations between Russia and NATO have significantly deteriorated. Russia views NATO's eastward expansion as a direct threat to its sovereignty and national security. In facing this situation, Russia has adopted a diverse approach, including diplomatic strategies through negotiations and public statements, as well as military actions such as troop deployments on the Ukrainian border and large-scale military exercises. This research examines the steps taken by Russia to protect its national interests and respond to the challenges posed by NATO. Additionally, the study explores the impact of these policies on bilateral relations between Russia and NATO member countries, as well as their implications for regional stability and global security. Economic sanctions imposed by Western countries in response to Russia's actions have further exacerbated the situation, creating a cycle of tension that is difficult to break. The research methodology includes qualitative analysis of policy documents, official statements, and secondary data from credible sources. The findings indicate that Russia's foreign policy tends to be defensive and reactive, aiming to maintain its influence in the region and secure its strategic position on the international stage.
