Abstract

The phenomenon returnees of foreign fighters from the Syrian conflict poses a threat that could disrupt Moroccan interests in the region. There are terrorist attacks in Morocco caused by pro-IS Moroccan returnees as well as significant challenges arising from the increasing number of returns of foreign fighters from the Syrian conflict following the defeat of the IS group by the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) poses risks and continuing threats associated with terrorism and violent extremism. Therefore, to deal with the threat, Morocco has implemented international cooperation in its foreign policy. The study aims to comprehensively describe Moroccan foreign policy in dealing with foreign fighters returnees from the Syrian conflict in 2018-2019.
