STRATEGI PERTAHANAN AUSTRALIA DALAM MENGHADAPI DOMINASI MILITER CHINA DI INDO-PASIFIK TAHUN 2020-2023

Abstract

China's military capabilities, especially in the Indo-Pacific, are increasingly expanding through the construction and militarization of artificial islands in the South China Sea, which is a controversial step. China claims almost the entire South China Sea, which conflicts with the claims of several countries around the area, one of which is Australia. Australia has a huge interest in ensuring security and stability in the Indo-Pacific trade belt. This region is a major market for Australian exports, especially natural resources such as coal, natural gas and iron ore. For this reason, Australia is implementing a defense strategy by balancing it by increasing its military capabilities and collaborating with its alliance partners. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques using literature studies that are relevant to the research. The research results show that China's military threat in the Indo-Pacific has become a concern for Australia's interests in the Indo-Pacific trade route.
