Abstract

This research explores the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in addressing seafood slavery in Thailand from 2019 to 2023. Seafood slavery refers to trafficking in persons and forced labor of fishers, a critical issue in the global seafood industry. The study investigates concrete efforts undertaken by the ILO to enhance protection and combat slavery in Thailand's fishing sector. Using the theoretical framework of institutional liberalism, which emphasizes the role of international institutions in promoting cooperation and setting global standards, the research aims to highlight ILO's contributions in promoting fair working conditions and protecting workers' rights. By examining ILO's interventions and collaborations with Thai government, worker organizations, and businesses, the study aims to contribute to global awareness of slavery issues in fisheries, advocating for improved global labor standards and fair treatment of workers in Thailand and worldwide.
