PENGARUH ALIANSI AUKUS TERHADAP DINAMIKA KEAMANAN UNI EROPA 2021-2024

Abstract

Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States have formed an international security agreement summarized in the AUKUS Pact. The pact covers cooperation in artificial intelligence, cyber, quantum, underwater systems, and long-range strike capabilities, which will take place over the next 18 months. The purpose of this agreement is to counterbalance China's military power, which is considered to be expanding and potentially threatening the Indo-Pacific region. Looking at the contents of the agreement, it appears that Australia has the potential to build nuclear-powered submarines with the help of technology from the United Kingdom and the United States. This has caused unrest in the Indo-Pacific region due to concerns that the region will experience a security dilemma in terms of military power. China has not remained silent and has criticized the implementation of the AUKUS pact, saying it could disrupt regional stability. In conducting identification and analysis, this study applies a neo-realist approach and the concept of national interest. Through qualitative research methods, this study shows that the United States has not yet been able to escape its Cold War mentality. The United States has a vested interest in preventing China from increasing its military strength due to competition between the two countries in both the economic and technological sectors.
