KEPENTINGAN NASIONAL AMERIKA SERIKAT DI KAWASAN INDO-PASIFIK MELALUI INISIATIF FREE AND OPEN INDO-PACIFIC PADA TAHUN 2023-2024
Abstract
The United States interests in the Indo-Pacific region have become a major focus in determining its foreign policy, especially since the launch of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) initiative in 2017 and continues to grow and become more relevant in the 2023-2024 period. The Indo-Pacific region has become an important issue for the United States in its foreign policy in recent years, with increasing geopolitical tensions and great power competition, especially China. One of the main policy strategies of the United States to deal with these issues and dynamics is the Free And Open Indo Pacific (FOIP) initiative which aims to promote regional stability, encourage economic growth, and ensure free and open access to international trade routes, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. The purpose of this thesis research is to analyze the national interests of the United States in the Indo-Pacific region through the implementation and influence of Free And Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) on the dynamics of geopolitics, economics and international relations in the region in 2023-2024. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores the policies, strategies, and initiatives taken by the United States in order to achieve its national interests, including strengthening international rules, promoting freedom of navigation, and increasing cooperation with partner countries in the region. FOIP has an important role in strengthening the United States' position in the Indo-Pacific region, although challenges from rivalry with China and other international issues also affect the effectiveness of this policy. In conclusion, FOIP is an important policy in maintaining balance and strengthening the United States in the Indo-Pacific region, but the sustainability and influence of this initiative in the future require adaptation to evolving geopolitical dynamics.
