Abstract

This thesis examines Indonesia's use of space diplomacy at UNISPACE+50 in 2018 to advance national objectives through astropolitical policy. In addition to presenting space-related issues to the general public from an international relations perspective, this research seeks to determine how Indonesia utilizes space diplomacy to further its national interests in international forums. The research employs a qualitative data collection method, drawing from primary and secondary sources through literature reviews, interviews, and discussions. The study finds that Indonesia aims to promote specific national interests, particularly in space exploration, with its astropolitical policies in international space forums reflecting these objectives. This research applies the concepts of space diplomacy, national interest, and astropolitics to analyze the topic. The findings indicate a gap between how industrialized and developing nations utilize outer space, primarily due to resource limitations and restricted access. However, Indonesia still has significant opportunities for growth, particularly in space exploration, where it can fully realize its potential through international space collaboration..
