PERAN DITTOPAD DALAM STRATEGI KEAMANAN NASIONAL DALAM RANGKA MENGANTISIPASI ANCAMAN EKSTERNAL

Abstract

This research discusses the role of the Army Topographic Directorate (DITTOPAD) in national security strategy to anticipate external threats.  The focus of this research is to analyze the strategies used by DITTOPAD and the challenges faced in the implementation of national security strategies.  This research uses a Neorealism approach that emphasizes that the state, as the main actor in international relations, is responsible for its national security.  Additionally, the National Defense and Security Strategy Concept according to Barry Buzan is also used to understand the dynamics of external threats involving both state and non-state actors.

This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to explore the occurring phenomena.  Data collection techniques were carried out through purposive sampling with in-depth interviews of relevant informants, observations, and literature studies from various secondary sources.  Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which consists of three stages: data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification.

The results of this research are expected to provide insights into the strategic role of DITTOPAD in supporting national defense through the utilization of Geospatial Intelligence and the challenges obstacle in implementing security strategies to anticipate external threats. Thus, this research contributes to understanding the importance of integrating military and non-military defense strategies to maintain national stability and security.
