INTERVENSI AMERIKA SERIKAT DALAM KONFLIK TAIWAN-TIONGKOK TAHUN 2022-2024

Abstract

The post-World War II conflict that occurred was an ideological conflict. This ideological conflict did not only occur for 2 major actors, namely the United States and the Soviet Union, its impact could be felt in other countries. This conflict occurred in many regions and one of them was in China. China's attitude tends to be aggressive because it is based on its goal, namely to achieve the One China Policy. This goal contains China's ambition to unite the Taiwan region so that it is under Chinese rule, so that there is only one government in power. This goal has an impact on activities and interaction patterns in the international environment. The policy of political isolation is one of the ways carried out by the Chinese government to restrain Taiwan in the international environment. One form is the severance of relations between China and countries related to Taiwan, such as the United States. In conducting identification and analysis, this study applies a neo-realism approach, the concept of national interest. Through research conducted using qualitative methods, this study shows that differences in interests and political orientations between the US and China allow for conflict between the two countries. Based on the above considerations, the United States feels the need to maintain the stability of the Asia Pacific region in general and Taiwan in particular.
